Flathead Gallery located at 10 Somers Rd in Somers Montana is
the conception of Donald Baughman. Filled with vintage photos and paintings from the early romantic periods of Glacier National
Park it is also keenly accented with Arts Craft Furniture, Lighting, Native American and Western Period Artifacts. Feature
work include the Sculptures of Frank Linderman who is best known for his many books about early Montana life including
Indian Why Stories , illustrated by Charley Russell who was a frequent visitor to the family home at Goose Bay on Flathead
Lake. Also featured are his personal artifacts, works of art given as gifts, signed letters, and First Editions Books of Frank
Linderman. Blackfeet, Crow, and Flathead Indians portraits fill the walls throughout the Gallery. These include the works
of the noted Montana Artist Elizabeth Lochrie who though out her life time 1890- 1981 specialized in Native American Portraits,
particularly Blackfeet Tribal Members Elizabeth when recalling her Great Northern Art School Experience in Glacier National
Park I got acquainted with the Indians. I found them so paint able that I've done them ever since. I've done hundreds,
maybe thousands. Every summer after (1931) I either took the children or left them home with the maid, and I went to Glacier
or the Flathead, or somewhere to paint Crow, Nez Perce, Blackfeet, and Assiniboin. I spent all summer chasing Indians
Objects, paintings, and artifacts in the Gallery are all selected personally by the keen eye of Donald Baughman a fourth
generation Montanan. After have spending over 10 years working in Santa Fe New Mexico Galleries and doing major tribal art
shows on both the East and West Coast he returned to Montana in 1999 to write a weekly column for Discovery.com called the
Appraiser Corner along with featured articles about art and antiques. This opportunity to work for a national base media syndicate
allow an opportunity to broaden a network of resources which he now calls upon when performing appraisals locally. Being both
